Photo of the Day: Week 18

A lover of variety and novelty, it’s not often I return to a place I’ve been before.  This week was worth it!

Beach life and polar swims and my favorite ginger beers.  Learning about life during the Falklands War from my Argentinan-British friend.  The haunting strangeness of returning happily to a neighborhood where I spent some of the most unhappy days of my life.  Being in National Forest and on farms and the unmatchable fulfillment  of working hard at work worth doing.  Amazing food.  Celebrations.

I would do this week again.  And again.  And again.

Photo lesson: as I’ve adjusted to being in Australia, the urge to snap a thousand photos a day has faded.  It’s been easy to be distracted by fun-packed days and forget to capture the moments I most adored.

April 30:

Sam’s baby – my former work mate is all about his bonsai.

May 1:

My friend Sylvia sure knows how to serve afternoon tea!

May 2:

Back in my old stomping grounds (the Karrinyup Shopping Centre) and this is the first thing I saw upon walking in the door. Related – I’d reckon these “shoes” are no good for stomping.

May 3:

The magic of a fire (ignited with an old dead grass tree) in the hills up above Perth.  Bliss.

May 4:

Some of my favorite things about my favorite farm in Australia – the tea cup patterns, the beautiful Jarrah dining table, the quirky napkin holders… the napkins!

May 5:

When you open up your lens case to discover a dehydrated lens and your over-excitement about minimalist packing means all your extra contacts are sitting a friend’s house 3000 km away…

May 6:

After a day working outside and hiking and driving around in the woods, there’s nothing like kangaroo filet and myriad veggies to finish off the day!
