To Blog or Not to Blog?
Let’s face it. Blogging ain’t for the faint of heart. I’ve explained before that blogging is no easier than being a stripper – a job everyone assumes is a cake walk until they think their way through it.
How do you know when to stop blogging?
Well, if you’re asking this question, it’s likely you’ve discovered that blogging is actually several jobs rolled into one. And most of them have a major learning curve.
Some people realize they’re putting all their creative energy into blogging tasks that take away from the reason they started a blog in the first place. Listen in on one creator trying to decide if she should give up blogging in favor of reaching her audience on other platforms:
Want to Quit Your Blog, But Keep Your Audience?
If you’re like the blogger who wants to keep putting a message out into the world, but wants to do it mainly on other platforms – other people’s blogs, social media, etc – ask yourself these questions:
- What are your big goals?
- What do you want people to get out of what you create in the world?
- What do you want to happen after having created something and published it?
- What ideas are you interested in promoting?
- What impact do you want those ideas to have on people’s lives?
- Why are you writing/creating/freelancing for others?
- When you write/create/freelance for others, why are you happy to do that?
- When people find you on another platform, what do you want the impact to be?
- What actions do you want to occur after someone finds you?
- After someone decides they want more of you in their lives, where do you want them to go to get that?
- When they do go to that place, what do you want them to receive when they go there?
